Better Choices,
Healthier Kids
It may seem like an impossible battle, taking on this ubiquitous commercial culture that's designed to sell us poisons for profit -- until you remember that your home is your castle and no one's forcing you to open it to either influences or substances that might be detrimental to the health and safety of the occupants. Armed with a little knowledge, you and you alone are empowered to refuse admittance to all the bad stuff that's out there trying to gain entrance to your living room, kitchen and back yard.
You'll also be in a much better position to protect your children from experiencing 'close encounters of the toxic kind' while outside your home as well (some of which may even be found in the classroom).
This Web site and the books Chemical-Free Kids and Chemical-Free Kids; The Organic Sequel, will clue you in as to where many of the hazards lurk, how many better choices you now have available, and how easy they can be to implement. |

When it comes to making us feel good, one of the best things about Thanksgiving dinner is a traditional side dish – the cranberry sauce.
The humble cranberry, in fact, is looking more and more like a star performer in the healthy eating category, as nutritional experts discover just how multi-talented it is in promoting wellness.
Cranberries, of course, have long been known for their ability to help fight urinary tract infections. But the benefits of these antioxidant-, flavonoid- and vitamin C-packed little fruits don’t stop there.
They’re now being recommended for people who suffer from asthma and cystitis and to help prevent a variety of ailments, from tooth decay, and gum problems to ulcers and heart disease. In fact, new research has shown they may help to inhibit breast cancer.
So don’t just think of cranberries in terms of Thanksgiving. Include them on your menu as often as possible -- whether as a sauce, in juice form, in things like breads and muffins, or just as a healthy snack.
